BAKED APPLES WITH CINNAMON
Use a tart apple for baking...I prefer granny smith. Wash, and core apples leaving 1/2 inch at the bottom of the apple. You can peel a small amount of the skin at the top of the apple.
4 large apples
1/4 honey
1 Tablespoon cinnamon
Combine honey and cinnamon and pour mixture into each of the apple hollows. Place apples in a 8x8 square pan with 1 cup of water and a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup. Cover pan and bake apples in a 350F oven for 40-60 minutes or until apples are tender but not mushy. Remove pan from oven and uncover. Carefully baste the apples with some liquid from pan.
OPTIONAL: You can boost the crunch factor by adding chopped walnuts or pecans and raisins to the apple hollows before baking.
